Edusei Foundation Donates GHC100,000 to Support Ongoing KATH Renovation

The Edusei Foundation, led by Dr. Kwame Bawuah-Edusei, Mrs. Evangeline Bawuah-Edusei, and their family, has made a significant contribution of GHC100,000 to the ongoing renovation of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
This donation, presented on February 14th, 2025, marks the second such contribution from the foundation.
It follows an initial GHC100,000 donation made on June 15th, 2024, towards the hospital's revitalization.
Dr. Bawuah-Edusei, a pioneer clinical medical student at KATH starting in 1979, made this latest donation to coincide with his 70th birthday, emphasizing his personal connection to the institution.
"Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has utilized the previous donations effectively, but there is still much to accomplish. So, as part of my 70th birthday, I am honored to contribute again to the renovation of this vital hospital, where I was both born and trained," Dr. Bawuah-Edusei stated during the cheque presentation to Prof. Dr. Otchere Addai-Mensah, CEO of KATH.
He further highlighted KATH's critical role in serving patients not only from Ghana's sixteen regions, but also from neighboring countries like Burkina Faso, Togo, Mali, and Ivory Coast.
"I feel a strong obligation to support this project, which aims to save lives and provide high-quality healthcare," he added.
The Edusei Foundation's donation is part of the broader "HEAL" project, launched by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as a key component of his 25th Anniversary Legacy Project.
The Asantehene's initiative seeks to raise $10 million to address the infrastructural challenges facing KATH.
He issued a call to action for all Ghanaians to support the hospital's renovation.
Since the HEAL project's launch in 2024, KATH has made significant strides in transforming wards and acquiring new medical equipment, thanks to public donations.
The Edusei Foundation's continued support reinforces the collective effort to improve this crucial healthcare institution.
